Pope denies fault in Argentina’s “Dirty War”

The Vatican would like to put a lid on the issue. And Friday’s denial showed an interesting development in papal communications. This was the Catholic Church trying to get ahead of the story, and thereby nip its potentially harmful impact in the bud. That in itself is new.
